Do you believe in the innate goodness of the human species?

Posted on Nov 28th, 2006 by Annisa : unbounded love Annisa
Well, do you?

Are you a good person?

What does that mean?  "Good" relative to what?

Do you look your fellow human in the eye when you pass on the street, or do you look away?  Do you smile or do you pretend that you're isolated in your own little world?

What do you feel when you see a homeless person walking along pushing all of their possessions in a shopping cart?  What do you do when they walk up to you on the street and ask you for money?

What goes on in your heart when you hear "15 more killed today by a car bomb in Iraq.  Numbered among the dead, 2 US soldiers, 4 children, 3 men and 6 women doing their grocery shopping?"

What do you do when presented with the option to help a total stranger change their tire on the side of a busy highway, or get to work on time?

What do you feel when you read the latest news story that says that sea lions, once pretty docile and seemingly harmless, are now attacking humans with ever greater frequency, and scientists think it's because they've gotten brain damage from eating fish that fed on algae blooms, caused by the runoff from our agricultural production?

Is it our fault that nature is going haywire?  Is it?

What are you doing to change the world?  Are you doing anything good to offset all the bad things?
